How To Make Money Online Writing Articles

November 22, 2008

Few know how to make money online writing articles in spite of the number that profess to be able to write them. Articles can be used in two very fundamental ways: on your website or on the web pages of others. Since the purpose of writing articles is to have them read, then they will be read either on one of your own pages or that of an article directory, ezine or another website.

What is wrong with that paragraph? Did you spot the deliberate mistake? NO? Then read it again and see if you can find the false statement. It might not be too obvious, but it should become so if you consider the reason that the vast majority of people have a website. It’s not to have it admired for the fabulous design, the graphics and the masterful writing. It’s not even to attract massive amounts of traffic to your website. It’s none of these things. Got it yet?

It’s to make money! There’s no point in all these beautiful graphics and intelligent search engine optimization if you aren’t making money. So what’s the purpose of writing articles? To make money of course, and that is why you need the resources of article directories and ezines to help you. The fact is that the vast majority of people that try to make money online have no idea how to do it. They don’t know how to advertise a product - if they have a product, that is. Most have no product and rely on other people to provide one.

There’s nothing wrong with that, because practically all offline stores sell products made or produced by other people. However, if you want to sell something online you have to know how to promote it, and that is where articles can come into the equation. The proper use of article marketing using well written articles that not only attract interest, but also persuade readers to visit your chosen web page, can make the difference between success and failure (that web page need not be yours!).

Given all of that, how do you use articles to make money? Very few people are trying to find out, because if you do a keyword search using the terms ‘article’ and ‘money’ you get next to nothing. Similarly with ‘articles’ and ‘cash’. However, a lot more are seeking information on article marketing, since ‘article marketing’ offers 27,000 results on the Google keyword tool, and ‘marketing articles’ almost twice that number. That is using Google’s keyword tool based upon searches for these keywords, not the number of web pages providing the information.

There are a number of ways in which writing articles can be used online to make money, the most lucrative being getting your articles listed on Page 1 of Google for its keyword, or even its title if that has a good number of searches going for it. Don’t be fooled by the number of other sites on Google providing the same information, since the search engine appears to give a higher weighting to content on article directories than that on ordinary web pages.

They might deny it, but that’s the way it seems to me and others, and why we write so many articles. I get better traffic results by submitting an article to the top 20 directories than I do publishing it on my own website. So why bother with a website? A good question, although there are reasons and this is not the place to discuss them.

There are places where the proper answers to these questions are provided, and the purpose of this article is to point out that many people have the wrong outlook on articles and why they are written. They are written to make money, and to achieve that you not only need content and readers, but you need these readers to be in a continual supply: such as you will get on a search engine.

So if your article is listed on a search engine, with no other competition on the page, you will be onto a winner. Guess what? That’s what you get when your article is published on an article directory, and that page is listed on a search engine. No competition: just your article and your resource sending readers to your chosen web page. Writing articles can be used to make money, but only if you understand article marketing, and the right way to go about marketing articles for profit.

Fewer people understand how to make money online writing articles than you would believe, but if you can understand how to achieve it then you have cracked two of the major problems involved in making money online: marketing and publicity.

Pete knows a lot about marketing articles properly, and his book Article Czar provides you with all the information you need to make full use of articles to make money. Not just to promote your website, but to make money using articles! Check out Article Czar or read about the Article Services he provides at good prices.

Are You Stepping Out Into Success?

November 22, 2008

Many of us think of applying the pressure as failing. ‘The pressure is coming. Oh my gosh! What am I going to do? The pressure is coming.’ But pressure doesn’t need to be a negative: I love this quote.

Pressure is a word that is misused in our vocabulary. When you start thinking of pressure, it’s because you started to think of failure. Tommy Lasorda

When you stop and think about what happens in life, pressure is being applied constantly in many different arenas. An example would be rush hour traffic that puts more and more pressure on the highways. As the population grows more and more pressure is added. What happens? Do we, as a society, give up and say ‘oh, well. Too Bad? It’s just going to take you that much longer to transit into work’? Your commute time, instead of being an hour and a half, is going to be 2 hours. And in 3 years from now, it’s going to be 4 hours. Or do we take the action, as a society, as a city, as a person and do something to relieve that pressure? Yes we do something that will alleviate the pressure for all of that traffic coming into the downtown core.

We as a society, as a city, step into success. We do something to alleviate that pressure. We can learn to apply that concept in our life. Instead of taking a look at the pressure as a bad thing we can use it to build something new, a bridge to our future. Do we do what Tommy Lasorda said–misuse that word ‘pressure’ and think of it as ‘oh, I’m going to fail, I’m going to fail’ and then give up? – or do we CHOOSE to do something different and step into our own success?

We all have habits. What is your ‘it’? What is the ‘it’ that stops you? When you start to feel that pressure, what do you do? Next time that happens, I want you to stop and think, ‘what am I automatically doing here’? Then decide to do something different in order to get a different result.

When I was first introduced to this concept, I did not recognize what habit I fell into until I was all the way in it. Stress eating was one of the things I used to do. As I learn to recognize where that pressure point is, what my habit is, what my ‘it’ is, I, can learn how to change it, how to react differently.

I just watched the movie ‘What the Bleep?! - Down the Rabbit Hole’. One of the concepts in the movie is that we, as human beings, are bombarded every second with 400 billion bits of information. We only process 2000, therefore we need to choose carefully which bits we pay attention too. When we succumb to the pressure and fall into a negative habit, like I used to when I was stress eating, we are selecting only a narrow negative portion of information from the 400 billion bits..

I have decided that I am going to choose a different 2,000 bits of information. It really is just a choice.. We need to recognize what our habits, and that we can change our habits. Millions of people have learned how to stop the stress eating habit. Millions of people have learned how to quit smoking. Millions and millions of people have learned how to make their life better, how to step into success. If they can do it, I can do it. If I can do it, you can do it. It’s all just a simple choice, to make a different decision.

If you are a parent ask yourself, if you choose non-success habits, what are the habits and passions that you are creating in your children? Are you creating a generational curse or a generational legacy? Another great quote is “children have never been good at listening to their elders. But they have never failed to imitate them”. by James Baldwin. Even if you aren’t a parent what about the influence you have on the people around you?

We need to learn to recognize when we are backing off from pressure, when we are moving into the habits that are not success habits (the ones that we need to change). We also need to recognize the habits that we have that are good, that are leading us towards success, leading us to our financial freedom. We need to be aware so that we can make changes in our negative habits and reinforce our positive habits.

We need to learn to recognize that when we wish for something, ask for something, pray for something or when we say affirmations for something, it’s not going to just happen. It’s not going to be handed to us on a silver platter. One of my affirmations is “I am building a team of dream achievers” Now, I know that that is going to take patience and perseverance and that this whole team of dream achievers are not just going to be dumped in my lap. I have to go looking for them and attract them into my life.

As I go down the personal development journey and build my home-based business I come up against pressure points all the time. When I think back to the pressure points in my life last year at this time versus this year – whoa! – last year’s ones seem really simple now. What happens? We are not given exactly what we want right off the bat. But we are given the opportunity to develop the skills so that we get better. On my journey, I am becoming a better team leader. I am practicing my patience and my perseverance in my own learning so that I become that better learner that attracts, using the Law of Cause and Effect, that team of dream achievers, the team of business builders.

When that pressure is applied in our lives, patience and perseverance, is what we need in order to grow through that pressure point. Once we do grow and find different habits to allow us to get past that pressure point, to allow us to develop the skills, to learn those new things that we need to learn, we come to a better place and we can handle more pressure. We have new skills. We know something different. We react in a different away. We remain patient. We practice the perseverance and can step into success.

Are you applying enough pressure? Are you stepping out into success? Take a look at your habits. What do you do when the pressure hits? Are you giving yourself the opportunity to develop a new skill, to become even better than you already are? I would love to hear about those experiences.. What to Know About the Plywood Supplies For Boat Building

November 21, 2008

Plywood is a strong material made out of many wooden sheets. This is also used as engineering material. Though not very attractive, it is extremely strong for boat making. Depending upon its thickness, plywood can resist damages.

Plywood is used in different applications including boat construction. This is a wood product made from many sheets of veneer or plies. It undergoes the process of pressing together, glued and grains going in multiple directions.

Plywood is a high quality wooded sheet that has resistance to:

•cracking

•breaking

•twisting

•warping

•bending and

•shrinkage

In boat-building, it is not practical to discuss all types of lumber. There are specific woods common in each country yet imported lumbers can also be found.

The common rule:

Any lumber in the locale that becomes successful in boat-making can be applied.

Although there are some characteristics of the wood that need to be considered like:

•weight

•strength

•decay resistance

Look for wood that will match these requirements. If the boat designer wants a lightweight lumber like Sitka Spruce, do not give him white oak. It would double the weight of Sitka Spruce. White oak weighs heavier. Weight will affect the performance of the boat. You can use woods of similar weight and strength as substitute. They must also prove to be successful for boat making.

In buying Lumber

Determine first the required thickness of wood material to be used. The designer must note in the plan or material listing the specific lumber thickness. The thickness of the lumber is usually the first dimension. It is called the sided dimension. For practicality, the designer must give specific standard for lumberyard dimensions like:

•1” material refer to four quarters or

•1” material to 1” NET

When asking for a quotation, note these to your lumber supplier. You can also purchase just one big board and re-saw them into desired pieces to save money.

Example:

Specified three 1” x 2” members, group these together. You can cut this from one big board sized 1” x 6” + extra allowance.

To re-saw this board, you will need a power saw. It can be a:

•table saw or

•radial arm saw

In Selecting Lumber

Select the actual board to use after deciding on the type of lumber. Wide width is mostly preferable. Long length is advantageous. When the plan needs a member 20’ long but the available is only 12’, it can be formed by:

•Scarf joint or

•Butt joint

The builder must check his plan to assure that the joint be found at a strategic location.

Example:

By using a butt joint and butt lock, a two 10’ length can be used to make 20’ member. It is probable that the joint be found in the location of the hull. It has stern curvature that will make the joint more difficult to make. On the other hand, 12’ and 8’ length makes 20’ member also. It could be manipulated to locate the joint outside curvature. It will simplify the joint.

To select appropriate material, the builder must check all choices against the plan. The lumber for boat making project must be seasoned. It means removing moisture from the wood. It is done to improve its purpose.

The two methods of lumber seasoning are Air drying and Kiln drying. The characteristics of the two methods:

1. Air drying process

•It is the best process

•It requires year or more of drying time

2. Kiln drying process

•It is acceptable if done correctly

•It can leave more moisture in the wood if rushed or

•It removed too much moisture in the wood that makes it brittle if cooked

If it is cooked, the wood will no longer be suitable for boat building. And, if the wood contains much moisture after seasoning, the wood will shrink or split. If possible, select boards that have vertical grain also called edge grain or rift sawn stock. These boards expand and contract without too much distortion.

Look for lumber defects

Defects must be checked. People confused with blemish as defects. Blemish affects only the appearance but not the service it gives. A defect is an irregularity on the wood that may affect strength. It is sometimes limited to a certain area only. It can be cut away.

Two types of defects:

•Those caused by seasoning

•Those caused by the way of tree growth

Seasoning defects are caused by removing moisture and shrinkage. Common seasoning defects include checking and warping. Natural defects caused by growth depend on the species of lumber.

Common natural defects are:

•knots

•cross-grain in wood

•shake

•decay and rot

4 Approaches To Directory Submissions: Which One Is Right For You?

November 21, 2008

One of the best ways to drive traffic to your site is to ensure that you have high-quality, relevant inbound links. If you want to improve your website ranking, the most important thing to do is to get links from sites that are considered authoritative in your field, and get lots of them. Look for websites whose ranking is higher than yours, and determine how you can go about getting those sites to link to you. One of the best ways to get relevant, high-ranking sites to link to you is through directory submissions.

Directories are repositories of links that are broken down by category and subcategory. Most directories determine which category a website will fall into by looking at the content on the whole site rather than just on one or two pages, and most directories will only allow a single website to be listed in one or two categories.

Directory submissions are a great way to get to one-way links naturally. One-way links are given more value by Google than are two-way links, so it’s important to get as many one-way links as possible. There are several ways to submit your site to directories. Here are some of them:

1. Directory Submission Software: The advantage of software is that it submits your website to online directories automatically. The bad news, however, is that many directories won’t allow you to submit your site without a registration code. This means that if your software tries to submit your site to a directory, then the directory won’t take it. There’s also a chance that your website will be submitted to the wrong category. If that happens, then the directory owner may actually delete your website from the directory. The directory owner may also consider your submission to be spam and reject it outright.

2. Manual Submission: Manually submitting your website to relevant directories can be tedious and time-consuming, but it helps you stay in control of the submission process because you can choose which category and sub-category to submit to. When you submit your website manually, you can also make sure that it meets directory guidelines for title, description, and anchor text. This process is much more costly than using directory submission software, but it does lessen the chance that your submission will be rejected.

3. Do It Yourself: Keeping all of your search engine optimization activities within your own control can be a great way to learn about how directories work and about search engine optimization. You will become more familiar with which directories cater to your market niche, and you will learn about your competitors. You will also get great ideas for your own business as you look at other websites that cater to the same potential customers. Although it is time-consuming, doing your SEO tasks yourself can be very rewarding and can help you understand more about internet marketing than you could ever learn simply by consulting with an expert.

4. Hire an SEO expert: Many business owners have no desire to shift their focus away from the day-to-day workings of their businesses to the tedious process of managing internet marketing campaigns. Fortunately, SEO experts and internet marketing gurus specialize in directory submissions and link-building. These professionals have years of experience in developing internet marketing campaigns and will know precisely which directories you should submit your site to. They know all of the guidelines for the major directories, and they can complete the process in a fraction of the time it would take you to do it. There are two ways to make an SEO expert part of your team. The first is to outsource your SEO and the second is to hire on an SEO expert for your business. You will probably find that outsourcing your SEO is a smart move since you don’t have to worry about salary and benefits.

4 Tips For Creating A Directory Submission Strategy

November 21, 2008

Internet marketing professionals and SEO experts know that 80% percent of the traffic to your website comes from search engines. If that’s the case, then is there any point in submitting your site to web directories? The answer is a resounding yes. While directories themselves may not generate an overwhelming amount of traffic to your site, they can greatly improve your search engine ranking. Search engines place a premium on one-way links, and that’s exactly what links from directories are—one-way links. So simply having a number of one-way links from directories can improve your search engine ranking immensely. Not to mention that directories can drive targeted traffic to your site in a way that lots of other linking strategies cannot. Now that you know the value of web directories, use these four tips to create your directory submission strategy.

1. Prepare Your Site. If you don’t have a high-quality site then chances are you won’t get listed by directories. Your content should be useful and relevant. It should be free of “under construction” pages and broken links. Make sure that you keep ads to a minimum, that you don’t redirect users to other pages, and that you don’t have duplicate content on another site.

2. Get Your Listing Details Ready. Keep the following information in front of you at all times to make directory submission easier: Your URL, the title of your website, a description of your website, your keywords, and your name and address.

When preparing your website title, remember that some directories will only accept your website’s official name while others will allow some keywords. If you submit your URL to sites that allow keywords, don’t succumb to the temptation to keyword stuff.

When preparing your description, just write two or three factual statements about your business. It should never sound like an advertisement.

Some directories require you to separate your keywords by commas while others require you to separate them by spaces. Write them out in both formats to make this job a little easier.

3. Find Good Directories. Use DMOZ and Yahoo to find more-specialized niche directories. When you’re checking out each directory, pay attention to how it’s organized, and spend some time determining which category or categories are most appropriate for your site. When you submit your site, note it on a log with the date of your submission.

4. Check Your Results. Some directories notify you when your site is listed and some don’t. Be sure to check the directories to which you have submitted often to find out if your site is listed. If it’s been over two months and your site still isn’t listed, try submitting it again, but don’t resubmit any sooner than that.

You can also talk to the directory owner and inquire about your submission status, but don’t make a nuisance of yourself if the owner doesn’t respond to you. There’s probably a reason that your site isn’t listed. Remember that not all submissions are successful. This may be one of those cases.

Directory submissions have the potential to be a time-consuming and tedious task. If you’re up for the job then go for it! If not, don’t hesitate to contact an internet marketing professional. This person can offer tons of assistance. Not only can she tell you which niche directories are most appropriate for your site, but she can help you submit to those directories, and even help you decide how to integrate directory submissions into your overall internet marketing strategy.

Whether you do it yourself or hire a professional, be sure to make directory submissions part of your search engine optimization plan. Drive traffic to your site and turn visitors into loyal customers!

5 Basics Of Directory Submissions

November 21, 2008

If you’re the owner of an online business, then you understand the importance of search engine optimization (SEO). You’ve probably also wondered where web directories fit in your overall internet marketing strategy. Here are the 5 basics of directory submissions to get you started.

1. What it is. A web directory is essentially a listing of websites. Unlike a search engine, which lists sites based on keyword relevance, a web directory lists websites based on categories and subcategories. Another important difference between search engines and web directories is that web directories are actually managed by humans. Each submission is reviewed by an editor who determines whether or not the site is appropriate for that particular directory.

2. Why you should use them. Directories are a great way to generate traffic to your site and to increase your search engine ranking. Search engines place a high value on one-way links, and links from directories are, in fact, one-way links. Furthermore, search engines place a premium on links from well-established, authoritative websites. So if you play your cards right and submit your site to directories that are considered high-quality by the online community, then you’ll increase your search engine ranking.

Because directories break down links into categories and subcategories, you’re guaranteed to get targeted traffic to your site. There’s nothing better than knowing that visitors to your site are there because they really want to know more about what you have to offer.

3. How to find them. Finding directories is simple. Go to any search engine and search for the term “web directories.” You’ll get a list of more directories than you will ever have time to visit. So how do you find the ones that are right for you? First, only submit to directories with a high PageRank because those will definitely benefit your search engine ranking. Second only submit to directories that don’t require a reciprocal link from your website. That defeats the purpose of using directories to get one-way links.

4. General directories and niche directories. You will find in your search for web directories that some of them cater to specific topics. These are called niche directories. Be sure to submit your site both to general directories and niche directories. General directories tend to be more well-established than niche directories, which will make them more favorable to search engines, but niche directories will help drive more targeted traffic to your site.

5. Determining the correct category. As mentioned earlier, web directories are managed by humans who review every submission before listing the website. This means that you need to be meticulous when deciding which category you want your website listed in. If directory editors feel that your choice of category is inappropriate, they won’t hesitate to reject your submission outright. Choose your category by considering the overall content of your website since that’s what editors will be looking at.

If you’re just starting out in the world of directory submissions, they can appear daunting. The process of submitting your site to directories can be cumbersome and time-consuming, and you may not see the results right away unless you submit only to paid directories. But submitting your site will definitely pay off in the end with increased traffic to your site and increased search engine ranking. If you’re not sure exactly how to begin, consider consulting with an internet marketing expert. An internet marketing professional can help you determine how to integrate directory submissions into your internet marketing strategy. She can help you sort through the myriad of directories to determine which ones are right for you and your business. And she can even submit your site on your behalf.

No matter how you choose to go about it, make sure that you make directory submissions work for you. They will pay off in the end and you’ll be glad you invested your time and energy into making them a part of your business plan.

Revitalize Your Company: Tap the Inner Sources of Success

November 21, 2008

In business, even in good times when a company is sitting pretty, there is the continuing imperative to improve, to innovate, and to keep people enthusiastic and at the top of their game. It’s a daunting task, and as a result, thousands of books, millions of consultant hours, and countless seminars and teleconferences have been devoted to the topic of how to improve business performance. Yet it remains as intractable as ever.

My work as an employee, a consultant, and a writer has led me to conclude that our customary approaches may fail because they include just one, not both, dimensions of performance.

Our main focus in improving performance is focused on what I call the “outer sources” of business success. The search for emerging, more lucrative markets is one example. The quest to define and implement best practices is another. The emphasis is on what we do to improve performance. But there are also the complementary “inner sources” of business success, and these are often overlooked in the rush to master and enact all the outer sources.

The inner sources of success revolve around how we generate the energy and spirit that power stellar performance. One example is to have a clear and powerful purpose. Another is to help your employees grow.

By focusing equally on the inner as well as the outer sources of competitive advantage, we get the best human energies flowing collaboratively to power all of the great programs and processes we design. Without excellent inner energies, our actions often fail to achieve what we hope they will.

Outer Sources of Competitive Advantage

We’re all familiar with the outer sources of improved business performance. Yet we have come to expect mixed success: some companies achieve what they hoped, others don’t. Failure can result when management pays little or no attention to the inner sources of competitive advantage. Here for example are a few outer focused improvement strategies that don’t always generate the desired results:

Pursue a grand strategy.

“When we have the strategy right, the rest will fall in line.” Research shows, however, that most people (95% in one study ) in organizations do not understand the strategy and that organizations (90% in the same study) typically fail to implement their strategies successfully.

Minimize costs.

“A 10% reduction in our costs will double our profit.” That may be the simple math, but cost reduction by itself is not always productive. When costs are cut, revenues sometimes suffer and attention is taken away from increasing revenue.

Fix what’s broken.

“We’ll do better by finding out what’s holding us back and fixing it.” But eliminating problems doesn’t always work because when top management consistently focuses on what’s wrong, employees repeatedly get the message that they are inadequate. An increased fear of failure, loss of confidence, hesitancy, and even paralysis may follow, thereby weakening the company’s ability to improve.

Hire the best people.

“Having the best people will give us what we need to succeed.” This, however, is just part of the answer. It’s also necessary to decide how to make the best use of their talents; otherwise, the promise they hold will be squandered.

Inner Sources of Competitive Advantage

All too often managers set on improving business performance dismiss the inner sources of competitive advantage as the “soft stuff”: “We can’t do anything about morale, values, and culture when the business is not going well. We’ve got to get the business back on track first. Then maybe we’ll do something for the people—if we have the money for it.”

But, when a company is not performing well, how can it possibly achieve success if the people are not fully engaged. The new leader of a 3,000-person telecommunications company that was losing money, customers, star sales people, and top management focused simultaneously on both the inner and outer sources of success to complete a dramatic turnaround. In just three years they achieved striking results, including quintupled shareholder value and a level of employee satisfaction that ranked near the top of 500 companies surveyed.

Here are some of the inner sources of competitive advantage that they worked on—and that you too can capitalize on in your own company:

Create and champion a compelling purpose.

When you do this, your people will be inspired, excited, and proud to be part of the company. When not only material needs but also the nonmaterial needs and aspirations of employees, customers, vendors, and strategic partners are addressed, the whole organization is stimulated and focused. Good people are attracted to the company, contribute, and stay.

Hardwire values into the organization.

When people believe you mean it about those lofty values you’ve developed and published, they get on board. Incorporating values everywhere—in business strategies, decision-making processes, sales strategies, customer service practices, employee development and evaluation processes, and measurement and reward systems—attracts and inspires not only great employees but also great customers and suppliers.

Set big goals.

The common view is that “We don’t want to set goals too high. Let’s set them low so that people can achieve them.” But companies that work on the inner sources of competitive advantage know that when the goals are big and important—and people are called on to work together to achieve them—they will rise to new levels of performance. Successful organizations set big goals, are passionate about them, communicate why they are important, and call on people to join in the exciting process of achieving them. When people help develop strategies and actions for achieving such goals and share the good news of progress, they gain the confidence to reach even higher.

Create a climate of freedom.

Providing an opportunity for employees to enjoy freedom within structure allows and encourages people to initiate new ideas and to innovate in carrying out the company’s strategy. Conventional companies have layers of rules and controls, with a “zero defects” mentality. As a result, many employees shut down. In companies with a degree of freedom, people look forward to their work, where they are encouraged to develop new ideas and take prudent risks in carrying out the company’s strategy. This often leads to breakthroughs in business performance as well as personal and professional fulfillment.

Invest in people.

When employees see that their companies want to help them grow their capabilities and not merely exploit their existing capabilities, they feel greater dedication to their employers and contribute more. Coupling employees’ opportunities for personal and professional growth with invitations to use their new knowledge and skills leads to heightened success at the individual and organizational level.

Leadership Qualities

Just as improving organizational performance requires attention be given to inner, as well as outer, sources of competitive advantage, the leader of a company needs also to work at the inner level. That means not only making the right decisions and organizing the work, but also inspiring employees and bringing out their best. The successful leader draws not just on the power of a “superior mind” and also on the power of “superior character.”

Leaders develop beliefs and ways of seeing that inspire their people. They see the ultimate purpose of the enterprise and always keep it in mind; and they see the interconnection of all of the pieces and their effect on each other. They believe in the nobility and capability of their people.

These leaders also embody the qualities of respect, caring, and trust and have the ability to see and act on the whole. They are in touch with and act from their own sense of deepest purpose. They connect with all of the people involved in their endeavors, even adversaries, and embrace the goodness and greatness in all of the people with whom they work. They see their leadership role as a great responsibility to serve others.

In the end, these leaders realize that the quality of the relationships within and without the company and the spirit generated by those relationships determine the health and competitive standing of the organization. The Economic Situation of the Construction Industry

November 21, 2008

The construction industry is very important to the UK’s – and indeed to the world’s – economy. In the UK, it accounts for more than 10% of the country’s gross domestic product and employs an estimated 2.5 million people. In the last three years, an extra £33 billion has been made available to this sector to increase public services. Included in this figure are major investments in transport, health and housing. As the industry is investment-driven, it is subject to the strictures of economic upturns and downturns; during the recessions of the mid 1980’s and the early 1990’s, there were significant downturns. However, in the late 1990’s, there was a marked swing in the opposite direction.

Our construction industry, by very nature of its geographical location, is not subject to the full influences of cross-border competition that are in evidence in mainland Europe. However, construction industries worldwide have been affected by the current economic climate and the increasing rise in fuel prices. For the earlier part of 2008, the German construction industry showed a marked upturn, but this slowed and tailed off later in the year, due to the increase in oil prices and the slowing economic pace of many industrialized countries. In addition to economic factors, there is a turn in the tide of ecological factors. In America, the number of people citing Global Warming as the most important environmental issue rose from 11% in 2003 to 35% in 2006. The construction industry faces new challenges in replacing and renovating buildings with minimal environmental impact. At the same time, the cost of these precautions has to be measured against potential profits.

However, despite the factors that seem to be conspiring against it, the construction industry moves at a very fast pace and is an ever-changing entity. Whilst legislation is forever altering, new techniques, technology and methods are developing to keep up. With the development of new practices, new jobs in construction are perpetually being created. In the UK, the Home Office has released figures stating that the three construction jobs that are most lacking in applicants are those for transportation and highways engineering, ground engineering and contaminated land specialists. With major infrastructures and building developments taking place in the South East of the UK, such as the 2012 Olympics and the Thames Gateway regeneration, construction recruitment in this area is set to soar. Britain’s Olympic Games will have 30 venues and a budget of £2.3 billion. It also has a non-negotiable, absolute completion date. As that date draws nearer, the construction industry will find itself heavily in demand as pressure and expectation rise. 2012 promises to be an important year for this industry and many are looking upon it as a chance to showcase its talents.

Of course, construction takes place across the globe and this gives workers a chance to travel as well as work. Construction jobs require large teams of people all working to a common goal and, while the lifestyle can be quite temporary, many get used to it and find it a liberating existence. Some projects are short-term, whilst others can last for years – such as the construction of an oil refinery.

Are you interested in setting up a home business selling electronics online? Buying wholesale from suppliers is easier than you might think and you will save a huge percentage on retail price – leaving you a decent profit after sales. This article is a guide to the product itself, buying your merchandise and finding the correct supplier for you.

Electronics vary hugely in price world-wide and even online. Many consumers know this and are on the lookout for a bargain. If you can give them that bargain, then you stand to profit from it!

The first thing is to make sure you know your electronics. Know the difference between a plasma and an LCD screen if you’re going to stock TVs. Know to get Blu-Ray, not HD disc players. Make sure you follow the latest technologies and fashions, because electronics as an industry is constantly changing, and obsolete stock becomes worthless very quickly. As such, it is a risky industry, but one that can lead to great profits.

Decide what you are going to stock. Again, this is dependant on what you know – only sell electronics that fall into categories you keep up to date on. There is no point in selling digital cameras if you have no idea what a decent number of megapixels is for such a camera to have. You may decide to stock a small range of products with several models of each, or go for a broader range of types of product without necessarily having many of each type. The choice is yours, but there are plenty of wholesalers for all kinds of electronic goods out there. You just have to find one whose products and prices suit you.

Wholesaling has been made much easier through the use of the internet. Most wholesalers these days have internet sites through which they can advertise and showcase their wares as well as providing easy ordering and delivery services. It’s simply a matter of shopping around to find the cheapest place selling the goods you want to stock.

In the electronics business, perhaps you can get the best place to buy wholesale from is the Far East, especially China. This part of the world generally has the cheapest consumer electronics and ordering your stock from here will give you a good mark-up while still being well under retail prices thanks to your low overheads. There are good wholesalers that is a good stockist of electrical items, with everything from MP3 players to digital cameras. Similarly there are wholesaler for electronics that is a good place to buy discounted electronic goods and almost offer a wide range of devices, all exported directly from China to you, giving you huge savings compared to other retailers in your industry.. Keep an eye out for distributors that have the products you are looking for and keep looking around – it is an ever-changing industry and you shouldn’t necessarily stick with one supplier.

So there you go, your guide to finding suppliers and buying wholesale electronics.

The 4 Online MLM Expenses You Can’t Avoid

November 21, 2008

Most people when they think about joining an MLM opportunity, they believe that after paying for signing up they won’t need to spend anything more in order to build their business besides their time. That may be true for someone intending to go after his warm market, chasing his friends and relatives, but as many network marketers have learned the hard way after trying that method, it never works for the majority of distributors. And even in that case you may have needed to buy books or tapes for handing to them.

So the next step for someone who wants to become successful is to try online MLM. The promotion of his business through the Internet in order to find new customers and distributors for his network marketing opportunity. Of course that step is not an easy one as it requires some knowledge and some necessary expenses.

The first required expense is nothing else but money spend on your training and education. Although it is more of an investment as it will always pay back ten-fold, nevertheless is money spend. In order to build a successful business online you need to know how to do it. The MLM companies although they may provide some training about Internet prospecting, if they operate online, nevertheless is very basic one and introductory. So if you want to move further and start seeing results for the time and effort you put into your home based business you need much more than what they are offering. You need to buy various ebooks, online courses, or even attend seminars that can teach you how to use the web effectively for adverting, promotion, lead generation, recruiting, or any other technical thing you might deem as necessary to learn.

The second thing you need to spend money on is advertising. How else are you going to tell to the world that you have started an MLM business? If until now you had the notion that advertising is something that only big companies with big budgets do, don’t panic because it’s not true. You don’t need thousand of dollars in order to promote your home business. Offline it may have required a substantial amount of cash to do so, although even there there are cheap solutions, but the online world is a different one. In programs like Google Adwords you can control your daily budget by setting limits, and even advertising directly to websites it won’t cost you that much. Of course, if you have the financial resources to do so you can draw a big budget for your MLM marketing needs.

Web Hosting is your third expense. Why you need it? Well, of course for hosting your website. You can’t call yourself an Internet network marketer without your own website, can you? Your site is your presence on the web, it’s the place they are going to learn more about you and your MLM business opportunity. You should provide that information to them as accurately as possible and solve any possible questions the might have about you multilevel marketing business. For better results you can combine it with a blog or even make it only a blog. That way you could post any updates, news, personal opinion, or any other information easily. Furthermore you need web hosting for your lead capturing pages in order to gather leads.

The fourth expense is an autoresponder. A tool for manging emailing lists and sending emails to your prospects. Every time a prospect gives you his contact details by completing a form on your lead capture page, his email address is put into the autoresponder that starts sending him emails that you have written beforehand, with the purpose of converting him into a distributor in your MLM company, or making him a customer for your MLM products. That tool is a very important one as it is seldom for someone to sign up in a network marketing business opportunity under a sponsor that knows very little about. With the autoresponder you would be able to send him a series of emails in order to build trust and convince him gradually that you are the one that can help him succeed in multilevel marketing.

Of course, there can be many other smaller or bigger expenses depending on how you are working your home based business. You may need to count the phone-calls if you are planning to communicate on the phone with your prospects or members in your MLM downline. Or you may want to meet them face to face so you need to calculate your trip costs or the gas for your car to get there. Additionally you may decide to mail promotional material like books and tapes or product samples to potential distributors, which is another burden to your budget, but some times necessary if it helps you to get results.

Now some might argue that it is possible to do Internet network marketing for free without spending a dime to training, tools, and advertising. They advocate that the web is full of resources that someone can employ to successfully promote and build his business, making his online MLM recruiting a cost free endeavor. That the Internet is full of free information for someone to learn anything he needs in order to master the available business building strategies.

Their opinion, although it has some base, as there are free tools that someone can use and training, they are not of the best quality and he would need a lot of time in order to assemble thousands of bits of scattered information through the web in order to learn how to build his MLM business. Furthermore, free advertising may not require money, but you have to put the equivalent in time and sometimes that may be hard for someone in full employment who only has a couple of spare hours every day to devote on building his business that would liberate him from his job.

Of course, you can always try to go the free way, but paying for efficiency and results is never a waste of money. You should start thinking like a real entrepreneur and accept that you have to put money into your business to help it grow faster and start working effectively. Choosing the one or the other way depends on how serious you are about your MLM success.
